The Australs are the home of basketry in French Polynesia. Through this immersion, you will understand the entire manufacturing process and never look at a basket or a woven carpet with the same eye again. Our favorite artisans will guide you through their fields of paeore (pandanus), the raw material grown for basketry. Once the paeore leaves are harvested, dried and prepared for braiding, you will have the opportunity to make your own braided object. This is a rare opportunity to get involved in the daily lives of Australians, for whom basketry is a real way of life rather than just an economic activity.

  • You will receive an email with a GPS pinpoint of your meeting location for this immersion. Upon arrival at your meeting location, you will see a sign with the NANI logo along the road and a NANI guide waiting for you.

    We recommend arriving by car or taxi. You can park your car on the side of the road like the locals. If getting picked up by taxi, you can have the taxi driver pick you up at the same location.

    You'll be settle in a pandanus field, it is not a place that normally welcome visitors so it’s a privilege to enter those family plantation

    You will be seated on the ground like the old time, If you have knees or back problem please let us know

    Caution: pandanus leaves can be sharp

  • If you cancel more than 30 days before the scheduled activity → You will automatically receive a 100% refund

    If you cancel between 30 days and 2 days before the start of the activity → You will be eligible for a partial refund of 30%.

    If you cancel 2 days or less before the start of the activity → No refund will be possible.
